"For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack."

Accidents in nature. Freaks by design. Pitied yet honored. These are the mutations of the blood, the undesired mutts.

These is a friendly place for players to gather and help each other out. Mutations, despite most of their lethality, are desired aspects of the game. However, they can be difficult to breed for. Certain guidelines have to be met, and even then, it is a game of chance and luck. Why do we need a group?

The support of others can be helpful. Like a pack, we can help each other with breeding, nesting, feeding, advice, etc. This is not meant to be a place where you can beg and get free things. We're all here to help each other breed various mutations. It does not matter if you're going for a lethal, non-lethal, random, or genetic mutation.

I am going to do my best to keep this updated and give all the information I can. However this is just a hobby for me too, and I'm not gonna pretend I'm great at math or coding. So we'll be discovering a lot of this together. If some areas are hazy, or not clear, and you have information that can help, do let me know!

What are mutations? How do I get one?

 <-- Recessive Mutation |   <-- Random Mutation |    <-- Lethal Mutation

Though some mutations appear by sheer random (low) chance, mutations are normally determined by hidden genes present in some wolves. These hidden genes are always recessive, meaning that both genetic parents must have the recessive gene, and both genes must pass to the puppy for the puppy to develop a mutation.

Non Carrier x Non Carrier = 100% Non Carrier
Non Carrier x Carrier = 90% Non Carrier, 10% Carrier
Non Carrier x Mutation = 15% Carrier, 85% Non Carrier
Carrier x Carrier = 10% Carrier, 10% Mutation, 80% Non Carrier
Carrier x Mutation = 15% Carrier, 15% Mutation, 70% Non Carrier
Mutation x Mutation = 10% Carrier, 20% Mutation, 70% Non Carrier

Soooo, what does this block of text mean? Mainly, this refers to the recessive mutations. Currently there are three recessive mutations : Albinism, Brachycephaly, and Melanism. These mutations are unique in the fact that they are genetic. You can have a carrier, and never know it, unless they bred with another carrier or a mutated wolf, and produce a mutation.

There are also random mutations. As per the name, these mutations can happen randomly. Per Tala, in our introduction tutorial :

"The lower a female's fertility, the harder she might be to become pregnant. Although I did hear that they sometimes produce more random mutations."

Similar to their sister site, this is implying that the lower a fertility is, the higher chances that she may have of producing random mutations. Seems easy enough right?

Well, if the breeding of random mutations if similar to the sister site, finding studs for this task may be difficult. For some fertilities, like Extremely Low Fertilities (1%), this can take a while and use a lot of a breeding male's energy. Sometimes over a hundred tries. And this does not guarantee a mutation, highly raises the chance.

That is not to say that you can not produce a random mutation from higher fertilities. They are random mutations for a reason. Again, breeding to a low fertility wolf merely raises the chances (though the exact percent is unknown at the moment).

Currently there are three random mutations : Conjoined Twins, Polycephaly, and Polymelia

"Every Beauty needs her Beast to protect her from everything but him."

The VLF (or lower) Stud Book / Collection / Archive. As mentioned before, it can be difficult to find studs at times. Some may have a try limit, or an energy limit, or even refuse the lower fertility girls. This can be problematic if we're trying for random mutations. So, instead of searching dozens of ads, lists upon lists, or even taking a gamble, I will keep an Excel document that contains studs that will accept VLF (or lower) ladies. Think you have a stud for this group?

Then add him to the document! Anyone can edit it (though I will revoke that right if this proves to be a problem). Just please understand, your stud must accept all fertilities (1% - 100%) with no try/energy limits, no pup ransom (demanding a pup from the breeding) and no hiking up prices based on the fertility.

If you do not meet this criteria but still want to help, that's great! You can offer your stud when a member posts that they need a stud or even just post below. This document is strictly for those that meet the above criteria.

You do not need to have a stud, or even have a stud that meets these criteria, to be a part of the group! Anyone is still welcomed! Just fill out the small form on the next post.

There is an example format in the document. You will need to post your Username/ID, Wolf Name, Base Color and Number of Markings, Stats, Price, a Link to the Wolf, and any Special Notes if theres any. I posted my own wolf as an example at the top.

VLF Stud Book

Please, be careful when editing.

Do not change anyone else's area. If you mess up, or you are confused, don't panic. PM/Tag me and I will fix it. Do not attempt to fix it yourself.

"If you live amongst wolves, you have to act like a wolf."

Due to a lot of members offering discounts to other members, we've decided to keep track of members. It is a bit informal but it's just for basic introductions, and let's me (and others) keep track of active members! You can fill out the form below or just do a simple greeting post that touches on a few details below. Just make yourself known!

Breeders, I will maintain a form of active members. However, once they fill out the form, it is up to you to decide if the player is active or not. I will not be stalking people.

Username & ID :

Favorite Mutation (so far) :

Do you have any breeding goals :

Anything you'd like other members to know?

Welcome all ~

Username & ID : Jester*Gurl | 9453

Favorite Mutation (so far) : Conjoined Twins!

Do you have any breeding goals : Just your usual mutation breeding. I don't pay much attention to marks or stats so I just tend to breed randomly and chaotically.

Anything you'd like other members to know : Just let me know if you need anything! I'm trying my best to run this group and help others but never be afraid to speak up.

I'd like to join! I put my stud up there with a little special offer for only this group! This will help me figure out if my mans has any carrier genes and help others get their mutations!

Does nesting increase or decrease the chances of having mutation born?

Sorry everyone, work has kept me quite busy! I'm back now though and it should be running slowly.

Thank you everyone for adding your studs! My own boy aged up as well so I'm gonna update his information.

@Haji - I'm not 1000% sure, but I don't think it affects the mutation rate at all. It just affects how safely a wolf can birth a litter.

I'd love to join! Adding my stud to the list as well :) I'll also add a discount to whoever else is in the group.
