GATHERING DATA: Personalities and Stats?

GATHERING DATA: Personalities and Stats?
Posted 2020-11-04 06:33:40 (edited)

Hey folks!

I had a thought -- I'm not sure if it'll pan out at all, but I think it'll be really interesting to see!

So, right now, my lead has two of her stats that are randomly much, much higher than all of her others. Like, 50 points higher. Pretty weird, right? I thought it was just luck of the draw -- actually, I thought it was maybe an invisible component of the genetic system, and I got really excited that maybe if I could track the "genetic stat predispositions" and breed them down lineages, I could have wolves that would naturally as they grew become excellent finishers, chasers, etc.

And then I had a thought.

...could these be related to personality?

It would make a lot of sense, wouldn't it, if stat trait boosts across level-ups were based on some inborn tendency that the wolf already has... perhaps one that we can already see, but doesn't seem visibly connected.

Of course, we all already know that a lot of the stat upgrades in general are related to pack role. Chasers tend to get speed and agility stats from their hunts, finishers get strength, etc., and that could maybe mask some of the underlying "genetic predispositions" toward particular stats.

So! I have a request for the community! Post here with your wolves' stat spread, pack role, and personality -- or, if you catch it, post here when they level up with their personality, pack role, what level they up'd to, and the stat gains they got on leveling. Maybe if we spreadsheet this out, we can find some hidden trends! :D Wouldn't it be neat if there were certain personalities that were really excellent for particular jobs, and we could start assigning jobs accordingly?

Here's my spreadsheet of data so far! Please let me know if you have any suggestions for tracking this!

I'm just now beginning to think about this same idea, but hadn't correlated it to personality traits yet. My thoughts were on what choices made during explore encounters led to certain stats increasing during level up for our lead wolves. So, we could in theory make specific choices during explore encounters (or biome specific ones as well) to increase specific stats like wisdom or smarts.

The personality aspect adds another layer to my thoughts on what my lead wolf will naturally increase with during leveling (like strength/speed), and what are stats I have to cultivate through choice. So I could choose to make my lead wolf accelerate strengtb/speed exponentially or go for choices that create equal stat increase i.e. wisdom/smarts.

My goal being breeding for stats high enough for scouting the hardest regions.

You can set a preference. If you really want it to be free from variables such as pack roles (hunter, scouter, herbalist, etc...), and explore choices, it'll have to be a wolf that has never been trained, apprenticed, a wolf that's not leader (because of Explore and other choices), without any of those roles, and most importantly without a stat preferences set. I noticed that the game generally will figure out what stats you're increasing more after you manually pick the stats.
