Adding A New Role Called Sentinels

Adding A New Role Called Sentinels
Posted 2020-11-03 08:34:01

Hello devs!

I've had this idea for a few days now. There could be a new role that wolves can have called sentinels-or anything related to guarding really!-and their job would be to protect the pack from incoming PVP attacks. It would be like on Lioden where your lion can challenge the lion of another pride except instead of it being your stats against theirs it would be your sentinels stats against theirs. (Or maybe your lead wolf leads the sentinels into battle so it would be a combination of stats? Whatever you think would be best!) I know realism isn't really the focus of this game but this would also make it feel more realistic because wolves really do move around in patrols like that. While it wouldn't really be as much if it was just the lead wolf fighting another lead wolf. I can imagine it being fun building teams of sentinels to help you win more fights and they can gather their stats by patrolling like the males in Lioden do! I was thinking that winning a battle would earn you territory slots, experience and whatever else you think fits well with this!

I know this idea would be complex to implement but I think it would be well worth it! You would have to create new artwork, text, coding and maybe server tweaks? I'm not sure about that last one.

Thank you for considering my suggestion!

i support. because it will add more roles you can give your wolves. i like the idea of having a team of wolves guarding the territory.

I support for the same as above, However these could be called Guards (as a possible alt to OP's Idea)

Pros: A second line of defense against your pups getting hurt should the dice roll against them if they are guarding The pups, source of exp and the rare chance of a small food or toy if they are guarding the hunting grounds. Very rare for them to trigger a décor or NBF encounter if they are just guarding the Pack.

Cons: Will Loose health faster than most of the pack when Actively guarding anything, more so if they have food or mood in the danger zone. Will get sick more frequently as they are in regular contact with strange wolves and hostile wildlife. May even be scarred or severely hurt by hunters/poachers.

Support.
More roles and more gameplay options would be great!

Perhaps you can send them on patrols (you could perhaps send them or short or long patrols, with long patrols lasting until next rollover) of the biome your pack is currently in, maybe acting as a passive way to get items found in your current biome, with the longer the patrol, the more chances for them to find items and such. (I don't believe this would interfere with scouting too much? Especially if they're only patrolling the home biome)

And aside from that they could have a "guard" mode as well (as Lannistark suggested), with each wolf set to guard adding to a protection buff, making puppies and hunters get hurt less as well as other things I'm sure.

This way you still have a use for them even if you're not tossing them at your rivals.

Oh I love this! Plus it would be awesome to have more pack roles.

I like this idea along with the other suggestions being added especially the prospect of earning territory

I would say three wolves to a team max it would be an easy number for even new plays to get reasonably and I think would keep your opponents more evenly matched for pvp

Support! I think they should be called warriors, though.
